Desmond Ross
Desmond Ross has been at the forefront of the aviation industry for over 30 years starting with the RAF University Air Squadron at Queen’s University, Belfast, N. Ireland. As CEO of Airports Vanuatu Limited, from 1999 till 2005, he corporatized the airport company and delivered a European funded major capital project upgrading the airport infrastructure.
From 2005 till 2008 he was the first permanent Head of the Pacific Aviation Safety Office (PASO), working with ten Pacific Island countries. More recently he completed contracts with the UK FCO, in South Sudan as Deputy Head of Mission and Chief of Staff and worked on HR and infrastructure capacity development projects in Croatia, Afghanistan (National Airports Project), Namibia (Windhoek Airport), Brazil and India. In 2014 he graduated from the ICAO AVSEC Professional Management and since then he has been at the forefront of aviation security development as an ICAO USOAP auditor and practitioner.
