Safety Management Systems

The European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has mandated compliance with Safety Management System (SMS) principles for a number of segments of the air transport industry. These are implemented by the National Supervising Agencies in each Member State.

Working with KPMG staff over a multi-month period, Pegasus subject matter experts provided an audit function for the Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) sector in a major European country. This involved reviewing SMS manuals for compliance with EASA regulations, identifying gaps in that documentation and advising the Inspectors on deficiencies that should be raised during oversight meetings.
